VG3
van de Graaff generator
The
VG3 is a large van de Graaff generator standing a maximum
of 2m tall and having a 0.5m dome diameter. The machine
is self-exciting and will reach potentials of several
hundred thousand volts, corresponding to spark lengths
of around 30cm under optimal conditions. The generator
comes with a separate power supply, allowing remote
operation of the machine over a range of speed settings.
The machine is supplied with full operating instructions
and a discharge sphere. Optional accessories are available
for demonstrating a range of physics phenomena including
electrostatic repulsion and attraction, and Brownian
motion. The precise height of the VG3 is customisable
at time of ordering.
