WGR1
Wine Glass Resonator
The
WGR1 contains a unique laser-sensing system to detect
the motion of a wine glass and then feed back the signal
to a loudspeaker. In this way the WGR1 places a glass
at the heart of a positive feedback system in which
the glass plays a crucial role in its excitation and
ultimate shattering. During the glass motion, an automatic
strobe system allows the motion of the glass to be viewed
at a variable rate. The apparatus is supplied with full
instructions for use including some detailed physics
behind the demonstrations that can be done, as well
as an accessory set including ear defenders and protective
gloves for removing glass fragments.
