electromagnetics

The electromagnetics suitcase allows you to demonstrate the links between electricity and magnetism, ultimately showing electromagnetic induction through the building of a transformer. Small shocker coils are included to show how voltage levels can be stepped up via back-emf effects in coils.

Please note the following product code if you wish to submit an enquiry about the electromagnetics suitcase.
ITEM CODE: SS-EM1

"The electrical revolution can be attributed to the efforts of scientists such as Michael Faraday, Joseph Henry and Andre Ampere. When the principles of electromagnetism were harnessed, electricity was brought to homes and factories for the first time, paving the way for the industrial revolution..."

Content Overview

The case contains two coils, and iron core, and a sensitive galvanometer for demonstrating the principles of the electromagnet and the electrical generator. The components can be combined to build a transformer. A polarity reversing switch is included which can be used to simulate the presence of an alternating current. The shocking coils provided generate repetetive high voltage pulses from a back-emf coil system - enough to cause a tingling sensation across the hands.

Graphics Overview

A set of five full colour A3 graphics laminates is included. These illustrate how to use the various items in the case, and provide some background information on key concepts and applications. The graphics also highlight links to related concepts in other cases for exanding the scope of your presentations.
