gyros and tops

The gyros and tops case contains a selection of toys and curiosities designed to demonstrate aspects of spin, rotational forces and angular momentum.

Content Overview

The case contains a set of stacking spinning tops which can be placed on a support point which is mountable on the lid of the opened case. There is also a gyro-ring toy to demonstrate gyration of a ring on a bar, as well as a larger version which is used with an extending aluminium pole. A wooden puzzle is inlcuded to highlight rotational force laws and three gyro-balls are supplied which allow volunteers to feel the effects of angular momentum.

Graphics Overview

A set of five full colour A3 graphics laminates is included. These illustrate how to use the various items in the case, and provide some background information on key concepts and applications. The graphics also highlight links to related concepts in other cases for exanding the scope of your presentations.
